Tag Rugby and the Connaught team - January 2019

Tag Rugby blitz february 2018

The 6th class girls had a fantastic day out on March 8th. They teamed with Kiltartan N.S. to take part in a tag rugby tournament and won all 4 matches. They are now through to the Connacht blitz on April 4th. Well done girls! Great achievement!

There are many sporting and musical opportunities in the school for our children. Every effort is made to make all six strands of the curriculum available to every child.

Hurling: 1st to 6th class children take part in hurling lessons. These lessons are given by a coach from the County Board. These lessons take place in Term 1 and Term 3. Luckily, this year, we also have hurling from the Gort Club. Micheál Naughton is kindly giving up his time every Tuesday morning to work with the children from 1st-6th.

Gaelic Football: 4th to 6th classes take part in Gaelic football lessons also given by a coach from the County Board. These lessons take place in Term 1.

Swimming: 1st to 6th class pupils all attend swimming lessons in the Lady Gregory Hotel in Gort. These lessons will take place in Term 2.

Irish Dancing: Children from Junior Infants to 2nd class have Irish dancing lessons with Louise Curran. These lessons take place in Term 2 and 3.

Music:
Pupils from 1st to 6th classes have the opportunity to take part in music lessons with Karina Cahill. These lessons take place in Term 2 and 3.

Throughout the year children have the opportunity to partake in a variety of activities including drama, choir, school concerts, school outings, quizzes and sports days.

We welcome visiting experts of the arts e.g.musicians, historians, artists and authors.
