Maths Week 2018! What a fun-filled week! There was activity stations, games, trails, Maths buddies, dress up day and of course some Maths! Book Week! We had a brilliant week and a half and completed loads of fantastic activities. The Book Fair was here the first week and the children loved investing in lots of different books. We also made bookmarks, created illustrations, participated in reading buddies and dress up day. We were very lucky to welcome the author Óisín McGann. He visited all the classrooms and was very impressed by the children's questions. 3rd and 4th class performed the pantomime 'Cindrella' for the rest of the school. Both the children and the staff really enjoyed it. Junior and Senior Infants performed the Nativity for both the rest of the children and their parents. They told the story of how Jesus was born brilliantly! Well done boys and girls! The circus came to visit us on the 7th of December. All classes and pre-schoolers attended. What a fantastic display it was! Amazing talent! In aid of Temple Street children's hospital, we all dressed up on Friday the 27th of October. Here is a look at our scary and crazy outfits :) 1st/2nd School Tour June 2017: Even a wet, windy day couldn't curb the enthusiasm of 1st and 2nd class. They had a fantastic day climbing Abbey Hill led by Terri and Ger from the Burren Outdoor Education Centre. They dined on the side of Abbey Hill in survival tents! They also completed team games in the Education Centre afterwards. February 2017: This week is Book Week. On Monday, we had a browse through the Book Fair and on Tuesday, we had reading buddies. We read and discussed our favourite books and characters with our buddies. On Wednesday, we had dress up day and on Thursday, the author Patricia Forde came to visit us! We really enjoyed our visit and may even have some aspiring writers as a result! December 2016: We had Tierneevin's got talent on the Wednesday before the holidays. Everyone was so impressed by all the skills and talents the children showcased. From jokes to singing and sports skills to magic, it was a great afternoon of entertainment. Well done to all. December 2016: The Junior and Senior Infants performed the nativity for their parents last Thursday. They were brilliant and made parents and teachers very proud! For Friendship Week, as well as completing random acts of kindness, creating friendship recipes and writing friendship poetry, the whole school also earned this song 'You've got a friend'. Isn't it fantastic!! November 2016: There was a fantastic response to the shoebox appeal once again this year for Team Hope. A total of 85 shoeboxes full of gifts for needy children were collected. Well done everyone. Look at all these scary creatures!! All the children in the school dressed up on the Friday before the Halloween holidays!! We had GOAL jersey day on Friday the 14th of October 2016. All the children wore their favourite jersey/top and donated 2 euro to GOAL. Maura Lennon, a representative from GOAL, came to talk to the children about the work that they do. The whole school went on a trip to Kilmacduagh on Thursday, October 7th 2016. We were very lucky to be in the company of Rory O Shaughnessy, a historian, who told us a lot about Kilmacduagh and St. Colman. We had a fantastic day and learned so much! How lucky we are to have such a fantastic monument on our doorstep! These are photos from our school's 'Crazy Hair Day' which took place on Friday, the 22nd of April 2016. The children wore their hair in a 'crazy' fashion, their creations were fantastic! Mrs. Lynskey won the children's vote but all the staff decided to take part as it was such a fantastic cause! All the money raised will go to Crumlin's children hospital. These photos are from our 1916 commemoration celebration. It was an action packed day. The youngest boy and oldest girl in the school raised the flag at 12 noon. We read out the Proclamation and sang Amhrán na bhfiann. Also, we presented certificates and Easter eggs to the child who was the Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine in each classroom. We also planted an Irish oak tree that was donated to the school! These are the photos from our Anti-Bullying assemblies where the children from all classes got the opportunity to work together in groups to create wonderful anti-bullying posters. What fantastic creations! |
