Book Week 2016 - Here are the pictures from Book Week! We had a very exciting week starting with our Book Fair arriving. The children have had lots of time browsing through the book fair and purchasing lots of books. Lots of happy hours of reading ahead!!As well as that, the children were engaged in lots of reading activities throughout the week such as reading buddies, making bookmarks, being illustrators, writing about books and authors and even meeting an author and illustrator, Sadie Cramer.
Sadie came on Thursday and spend time with every class discussing books and creating wonderful masterpieces. What a fantastic week! :) |
Here are some photos from our whole school assembly last Tuesday. Sáirsint Eric O'Brien and Saidúir Singil Ryan Fitzpatrick who are based in An Chéad Cathlán Coisithe in Galway came to our school to present us with our National Flag which we will be raising on March 16th. They gave us a short history of the Irish tricolour - the colours, the people and the meaning as well as the Ireland 2016 flag project. A very interesting fact they shared on the day was that although the 1916 Easter Rising made the Irish tricolour famous, it was actually first flown publicly in 1848 in Waterford City, making it 168 years old!! Niall Carr, being the oldest boy and Lauren O' Flaherty, being the youngest girl, accepted the flag on behalf of our school. Tara Cooley read out some of the Irish Proclamation with Sergeant O' Brien. Our children were very engaged and both soldiers were very impressed at the quality of questions asked by the children. A day to remember!
The photos below are from our 40th anniversary celebrations which took place on the 10th December 2015. On the night, there was a celebratory mass in Tierneevin church followed by a gathering at the school where there was photos, videos and artefacts on display. Lots of people had fun walking down memory lane. As clear from the photos, a great night was had by all. It was a wonderful occasion that past and present students and families could celebrate together.

Strictly Come Dancing
We have had a very busy few months with Strictly Come Dancing. We were represented by Enda Linnane, Karen Naughton, Niall Linnane and Raquel Samuels. Both couples danced really well on the night and raised lots of money for our school in the process. Enda and Karen were the winning couple on the night. A massive thank you to the Parents’ Association and organising committee for all their hard work in co-ordinating the night.
